Rented clothes, a heated hall, a family already napping like they paid for quiet. A jjimjilbang is not a wellness brand with neon. It is a civic room. You arrive clean. You do not film the soak.
A public room, not a brochure
Japan’s onsen is a house with mineral water. Korea’s jjimjilbang is a building that stays open because the city still has a shift. Common rooms mix. Soak rooms usually do not. Voices down. Phones in the locker. A camera in a changing room is not a travel tip.

Is a jjimjilbang a spa?
No. Mixed common rooms, rented clothes, heated floors, families. The soak rooms are usually gendered. Follow the house in front of you. It is a reset after a used mountain or a long KTX, not a date stunt. Courtesy.
Do I wash first?
Yes, before the soak. Soap and rinse until you would not mind sitting next to yourself. The hot rooms are for heat, not for becoming clean. Towels and phones stay out of other people’s water.
Tattoos, swimwear, overnight?

First night in Seoul?
Only if you still have a mind. Landing plus a bath is a lot of heat. First days are a card and water. The jjimjilbang is the evening after the city has already clicked. T-money.
