The booking order
Four decisions, in this order.
Region
One country, or two that share a border you can cross on purpose. Japan or Korea first if you want rail to do the work; Vietnam or Taiwan for a softer landing.
Season
Blossoms, heat, typhoon windows, monsoon curtains, foliage. The month decides what the country will actually let you do — read it before the flights, not after.
City order
The spine before the hotel tabs. Three bases, well, beats six badly. An open-jaw ticket is worth it the moment it saves you a dead day of backtracking.
Book
Entry rules and rail tables from the official pages only. Then stays, rail, and a data plan. Nothing on this page is a fare we invented.
