Korea · the click
Seoul stays up to see if you will too.
The city clicks into place the moment the gate says yes. Palaces, Hangang, a grandmother in a visor — none of that works if you are still arguing with a ticket machine. T-money first. Opinions later.
Day one is a card
First-timers collect palaces before they collect a way home. That is how you become soup on Line 2. Buy the card. Two villages. The river. Seoul first days is the shorter spine. This page is the click itself.
Visitor cards exist some years, with deposits and expiry that move. We will not freeze a blog number into your bag. The issuer and the airport page the week you fly — those win.
A transit card on day one. Then the city can bother to introduce itself.
KTX south is a different product. Run the operator for Busan steel. The free Korea kit is the finishable Seoul–Busan spine. The depth pack till stays closed until a Stripe price exists.
Decide
Decide
T-money or a Korea-wide pass?
A transit card on day one. T-money, or the visitor card the machines are selling. Reload when asked. A long-distance ticket south is a different product — it does not make the metro free. We will not invent a stored won figure or a KTX fare. Fares live on the operator. Country orientation: visitkorea.or.kr.
Airport or the first station?
Whichever machine you reach while you still have a mind. Do not debug a wallet app on a transfer at rush hour. Plastic first. Convenience stores often reload. We omit which window is open on a Sunday.
Does it work in Busan?
Often, on city transit. The KTX is still a separate ticket. We will not print a compatibility chart that rots. If a gate says no, the local issuer has the yes. Busan is salt after steel, not a metro footnote.
Cash or card on the bus?
The card is why the city clicks. Drivers are not your currency exchange. Tap. Sit. Let someone older have the seat if the car asks it of you. Courtesy is not optional here either.
How to take it
Tap, then two villages
The first yes
Machine, convenience store, or the visitor desk if that is the door this year. Passport if they ask. We do not invent the deposit.
Sleep near a line that joins your two villages
Jongno if palaces are the morning. Hongdae or Seongsu if you want students and workshops. Seoul.
Steel only when the week breathes
Busan is a chapter, not a trophy you staple onto night one. Korea transit for the corridor shape.
Then go
Sunday lunch with Korean families is packed for a reason. Chuseok and Seollal empty the capital toward hometowns. You are walking through a city that lent itself out. Be a guest. Reload when the reader asks.
