Ten reasons to miss a flight on purpose
Taiwan is compact enough to over-plan. Don’t. These are days that still feel like the island, not a spreadsheet.
Original Yomu ten. Night markets appear once, on purpose.
- Taipei as a base, not a trophy tower. Taiwan guide.
- One night market near the pillow. Plus one famous one if you must.
- Jiufen / the northeast cluster — or skip it if rain and tour buses own the day.
- Beitou + Yangmingshan when you want steam and grass more than lanterns.
- Tainan for food that has grandparents. Overnight if you can. The trains make it easy to underestimate.
- Kaohsiung if you like harbor cities that do not apologize for being themselves.
- Taroko or the east coast when nature is the point. Check road and weather notices the week you go.
- Sun Moon Lake only if you want a lake day, not because a list said “must.”
- A tea mountain or Pingxi line village if you like small trains more than malls.
- The 7-Eleven breakfast as a legitimate spiritual practice. Egg, coffee, dignity.
The best Taiwan souvenir is a slightly expanded stomach and a stored EasyCard you refuse to throw away.
