Taiwan · the pass

Taipei sidewalks are a card, not unlimited steel.

Everyone wants unlimited steel. Inside one basin, that is plastic you tap. A THSR Pass is steel on days you will actually ride. Run the official table. Then buy, or do not.

Taipei-only weeks skip it

First-timers buy three consecutive steel days for a week that is mostly rain on tile and a stall at eleven. That is how you pay twice. One market as a sitting. One day-trip. Then maybe south.

One Taipei–Tainan pair? You usually skip the Pass. That is breakfast money, not cynicism.

Decide

Decide

Do I need a THSR Pass for Taipei MRT?

No. Taipei is EasyCard and walk-ups. Unlimited high-speed does not make the metro free. Official NTD: Taiwan transit.

Taipei plus one Tainan breakfast?

Usually two reserved seats. Unlimited is a feeling. Run the official table against the rides you will actually sit in. Tainan is breakfast as the next chapter, not a reason to buy a feeling.

When does the Pass win?

When the week is already south and back, or Kaohsiung plus Tainan plus Taipei, and the days overlap the product. Re-check pass.thsrc.com.tw the week you buy. Foreign short-term visitor rules live there.

Jiufen on a Pass day?

Jiufen is not THSR. Do not burn a Pass day on a bus. The Pass is steel. EasyCard is the rest.

How to take it

Card first. Steel only if the south is real.

  1. EasyCard on day one

The click. Heat is already a fact.

  2. Name the long rides

Zero: skip. One south pair: usually reserved seats. Two or three steel days: open the official table.

  3. Buy on the Pass site, or do not

Visitor rules live on the operator. We will not invent who qualifies.
