Open sky over water

Japan · entry

The stamp is not a blog post.

Read the living culture first. This page is the ministry door: Japan will let a lot of passports in for a short stay, and it will refuse the ones it refuses. Read the page that names your nationality. We will not invent eligibility, a fee, or a landing-card trick.

This is an official-pointer page. Sit with why Japan rewards attention before you treat a stamp as the story. It exists so you do not have to hunt government domains inside a city essay. It is not legal advice. If a video promises your stamp, close it.

If the site is not a Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Immigration Services Agency page, treat the fee as a private service charge.

Decide

Will Yomu tell me if I need a visa?

No. Eligibility is passport-specific and it moves. Start at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Exemption of Visa (Short-Term Stay), then the JAPAN eVISA overview if you are not exempt. We will not guess your stamp or invent a fee.

Is a blog matrix good enough?

No. Lists rot. Third-party “visa services” add a markup and a logo. If the page is not a Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Immigration Services Agency surface, treat it as a private product — not the government rule.

Where do landing and status questions live?

Immigration Services Agency of Japan handles landing permission and status of residence. Open their English guide. Do not copy a forum answer onto your boarding pass.

Does this page replace first-days or the JR Pass tables?

No. This page is pointers only. First-timer friction lives on the first-days note. Yen tables live on the JR Pass page. We will not smuggle a fare into an entry paragraph.

How to read the official pages

Ministry first, then fly

  1. Open the short-stay exemption list

mofa.go.jp — Exemption of Visa (Short-Term Stay). Find your passport. If your country is not named, you are not exempt because a friend was. Durations and conditions sit on that page, not here.

  2. If you are not exempt, open JAPAN eVISA

Overview and who the online route is for: mofa.go.jp — JAPAN eVISA. Apply only through the government flow that page names. We will not invent a processing day-count or a yen fee.

  3. Landing and status: Immigration Services Agency

Permission to land, status of residence, and the forms that belong to them: isa.go.jp — applications guide. Re-read the week you fly. Rules move.

After the stamp

The hard parts of the first forty-eight hours are not usually the stamp. They are a bag on the stairs, a reservation you skipped, and a polite no. That note is Japan first days. Bases: Tokyo · Osaka · Kyoto. When the week has room: Hiroshima · Kanazawa.

Corridor to Korea: Japan–Korea route — Korea’s portal is visa.go.kr, also not a blog. Kits stay free. We still will not guess your stamp.
